| The Gloucestershire Regiment were first raised in 1694
as Gibson's Regiment, followed by the 61st in 1758. The
Regiment escaped all the Army cuts throughout the years up to 1994 when
they were merged with the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment It is
not the intention of this Website to tell the Regiments History in its
entirety as that function is carried out by the respective Regimental
Museums at Salisbury for the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment and at Gloucester for the
Gloucestershire Regiment. In order to explore that section of our history
