1st Bn Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment |
|
THE 'GREENLINE' CYPRUS |
| The Royal Berkshire and Wiltshire
Regiments had a long association with the Island of Cyprus, with both
Battalions serving there during the EOKA troubles in the years leading up
to the amalgamation in 1959. In fact the Wiltshire's are accredited with
having the longest posting on the Island during those troubled times. The
1st Bn Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment continued that association on
the island by a Battalion Emergency posting to the Island in 1964 followed
by Company postings to reinforce the 1st Bn Gloucestershire Regiment. In
the years to come successive generations of 'Dukes' patrolled the Island.
This page will contain images of that early posting to the island |
